Carpe Musicam! concerts keep getting better

Founders

CARPE MUSICAM! is the unique musical partnership of|
Elsabe Barkhuizen and Norman Carless.
Between them they play more than 8 musical instruments and have over
80 years experience of professional musical performances. “We see it as our joyful duty to pass on our knowledge to anyone who is interested in
| improving their musical skills.”

Elsabe Barkhuizen

Elsabe is a very experienced and sought-after church organist, pianist and harpsichordist who has been playing professionally since the age of 12.

Until 2016 she held the post of Director of Music for the Dutch Reformed Church’s Mother Parish in George, South Africa.

Her “home” organ was a historic 1879 William Hill of London mechanical pipe-organ. She’s also the co-founder/resident pianist/organist of the Carpe Musicam! Orchestra, a community-based orchestra in the Garden Route.

Norman Carless

Norman has had a long and successful career in South African military bands and orchestras, being a Bandmaster for the South African Navy before his retirement in 2003.

He is a conductor and multi-instrumentalist,
performing regularly on the Trumpet, Cornet, Flute, Recorder and the French Horn.

He is also a Master Arranger and Orchestrator, specialising in custom orchestrations of popular works for unusual groupings of instruments.

In July 2015 he co-founded the Carpe Musicam! Orchestra, which has grown very quickly and is rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with.

We are Performing again soon!
